Regional Development Australia-Southern Inland is excited to announce its upcoming International Women’s Day event scheduled for March 7th, 2024, with a focus on celebrating the achievements of women in the construction and trades industry. This year's theme, #InspireInclusion, aims to spotlight the contributions of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector and will be held at Poachers Pantry in Springrange.

Gillian is the Chief Projects Officer of Major Projects Canberra. The position leads the procurement and delivery of the Territory’s infrastructure program.
Gillian has dedicated almost 30 years to the building and infrastructure industry and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), First Class Honours from the University of Sydney. She has a strong track record of leadership on major and complex infrastructure projects across multiple sectors and geographies.

Caitlin McClure, a Mildura local, graduated high school in 2015. Captivated by Jindabyne while working the snow season, she decided to extend her time in the Snowy Mountains.
Caitlin now works as a qualified electrician within Snowy’s Regional Support team in Khancoban. Driven by a passion for science and problem-solving, she has now taken on leadership roles in major project overhauls.

Lakshmy is a dispute resolution specialist with over 30 years of engineering and infrastructure experience. In these capacities, she has been responsible for aspects of development, delivery, and dispute resolution of a significant number of major transport infrastructure projects worldwide.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Chartered Civil Engineer, Fellow of the Engineers Australia, and Certified Practising Risk Manager of the Risk Management Institute of Australasia.

Drill and Blast
For Emily there was no escaping, working as a teenager in her family business. From the time she got her L plates she drove all around NSW, getting up her hours and helping on bench.
Now a highly skilled Shotfirer, her workday involves travelling throughout NSW, using explosives to produce usable rock, this is then processed to produce fertilisers, concrete aggregates, pure pigments, railway ballast and road base products in Quarries. As well as blasting for civil and construction projects, roadworks, tunnels, dams and currently working on the Snowy 2.0 scheme.

Maddison discovered her passion for trades at the age of 10, inspired by her parents' involvement in buying, renovating, and selling houses. Growing up, she had a clear vision of her career path, with full support from her family. During her time at Kanahooka school on the coast, she completed high school and a TVET course in construction, gaining exposure to various trades in the industry.
Maddison proudly shares that she recently completed her Certificate III in Plumbing and Services, officially becoming a qualified plumber.

Before embarking on her apprenticeship journey in 2021, Erikah had a background in hospitality and administration. Seeking to broaden her horizons, she spent a year working on a small, family-run livestock farm, where she discovered a keen interest and gained valuable experience in the mechanical field.
Erikah joined Divall's, successfully completing the first three years of her apprenticeship. In December, she wrapped up her final year of study, earning the prestigious title of TAFE Goulburn Light Auto Industry Most Outstanding Student 2023.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council
Emma Tangye, inspired by her mechanically inclined family, developed a keen interest in innovation from a young age. Initially apprenticing under her father for family cars, she transitioned to autonomous vehicle servicing during school. Her passion expanded on a Monaro farm, sparking a deep fascination with machinery. While rooted in cars, Emma explored diverse concepts like braking systems and hydraulics, fuelling her ambition to specialise as a tractor mechanic.
In 2017, Emma seized an opportunity, to embark on a mechanic apprenticeship with the Snowy Monaro Regional Council, concurrently earning a Certificate III in Heavy Road Transport. Emma excelled in mastering engines, servicing techniques, and intricate component intricacies. Emma has further honed her skills with a dual trade, achieving a Certificate III in Mobile Plant. Emma's journey showcases expertise from wet brakes to hydrostatic transmissions, supplemented by additional NSW Tafe qualifications in hybrid and electric vehicles, continuing her learning, passion, and commitment to the machinery field.
