CEO REPORT

Our CEO Report takes you on a journey through our organisation, sharing our stories of challenges overcome and the achievements celebrated.

What an incredible Spring we’re having with the blossoms in full bloom across the region. My garden smells incredible with the Wisteria and Iris’s out in all their purple glory. September for RDASI was another jam-packed month, finishing off the Regional Roadshows tour with Regional Tech Hub (RTH), NBN and Telstra, disseminating important connectivity information to our communities. We know how important fast, reliable and secure internet and phone connectivity is to the development of our regions, and we are working closely with our key stakeholders to improve accessibility. If you missed the Roadshows, but would like to see the presentation by RTH, please take a look at it on our website HERE.

The Welcome Experience in Goulburn has seen several new residents supported through the transition a move requires. This program has been developed with years of research, with the understanding that the first three months are key to settling and creating long term roots. I commend the State government for acknowledging this and we believe this program is already having a very positive effect. Alexandra and Jane make a great team and are always happy to attend community group meetings to showcase the program in more detail. Please contact them on welcome@rdasi.org.au.

As always, we have more exciting events coming up soon with Ag Day to be held in Yass on November 17th celebrating the incredible contributions to our communities, made by our farmers. Tickets are going on sale very soon, and thanks to our fabulous sponsors, Regional Tech Hub and Telstra, will be as affordable as we can possibly make them. Keep an eye out on our socials next week to grab yourself a place at this not-to-be-missed event. The guest speakers will be AMAZING!

International Women’s Day is being planned for March 7th, 2024, and this year will focus on Women in construction and trades. Again, we will hear from some trailblazing women in this male dominated sector and cannot wait to share their unique stories with you.

We have now had a number of briefings on the federal grant opportunities for Regional Precinct Partnership Program and Growing Regions Fund, so if you feel your project may fit within these program criteria, please get in touch with us at grants@rdasi.org.au.

In the coming weeks, we will be in a position to announce some big changes at RDASI, and we’re all very excited to work with our stakeholders to build strong, resilient and vibrant communities into the future.

The Welcome Experience

The Welcome Experience pictured

The Welcome Experience Goulburn is buzzing with excitement with the warmer weather. We are continuing our mission to help new residents seamlessly transition to life in Goulburn.

This month we have had the privilege of assisting a group of dedicated nurses who have recently become part of our community. Their storied have been inspiring, and it’s heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm for this new chapter in Goulburn.

In addition to our local residents, we’ve also had the pleasure of working with international clients who are embarking on a life-changing adventure from the other side of the world. It’s wonderful to see their excitement, and we hope their upcoming long-haul flights are an enjoyable start to their new lives.

We extend a big thank you to Rachel Cramp from ‘It’s a Beautiful Life Photography’ for shooting a series of photos for The Welcome Experience; we appreciate your attention to detail and expertise.

This month, we have been working alongside the other Local Connectors to prepare a presentation for one of the key stakeholders in mid-October. This presentation holds immense promise for The Welcome Experience across all 8 pilot sites, and I’m proud to be given the opportunity to represent the service on a large scale.

As we move forward, we’re committed to fostering the growth of our service and ensuring its continued success. Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming events that will make Goulburn an even more welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.

Ag Day Celebration

We are excited to present the Ag Day Celebration at The Clubhouse in Yass on Friday, November 17th. This event is dedicated to honouring the hard work and contributions of our incredible farmers in regional NSW. The celebration will feature inspirational speakers, local food, and a live music to finish off the night. RAI Regional Job Vacancy Report

The RAI’s latest regional job vacancy report shows almost 91,000 positions were advertised online in August, up just shy of 1% on July but 0.3% lower compared to the same period last year.

It starkly contrasts metropolitan Australia, where job ads have seen a dip of 0.1 per cent from the previous month, and a significant decline of 10.1 per cent year-over-year.

Goulburn Farmers Market

Goulburn Farmers Market will launch on 28th October from 8am to 11am at the Showground. With sustainability and climate change as driving factors, this market brings fresh produce, in season, with low food miles, little to no packaging, from growers direct to local customers. A variety of value-added products will add to your shopping experience. Coffee and food will be available so come for breakfast or brunch while you listen to our wonderful buskers.

If you would like to book a stall, please take a look at their website where you will find the market rules and a booking form: goulburnfarmersmarket.com.au.

The market will be held monthly on the fourth Saturday of the month and will be undercover at Peden Pavilion, Showground, Gate 6 Braidwood Rd. It is an initiative of International Volunteers for Peace but the intention is for ownership to revert to a local committee representing shoppers and stallholders.
